We examined what made numbers rational and irrational.
We approximated the value of irrational numbers.
Students studied their perfect square and perfect cube note cards.
In the end, we tied it together with The Locker Problem.
My students helped me realize that they needed much more guidance when it came to how to solve a problem with some creativity, with some organization, with some thought.
They were given exemplars, both good and bad, as well as a rubric with what elements were needed in the problem.
Several students met expectations, what we are calling "Making it to the Big Leagues". But a majority are still working their way up from Little League and Minor League.
